Travelling through books

You don’t have to go far away to have new experiences.

“Not all of us can travel the whole globe, but just making travel a priority—even to a new place a day's drive away—can be eye-opening.”

Mark Twain

You can even travel ....staying at home!

“Reading is like travel, allowing you to exit your own life for a bit, and to come back with a renewed, even inspired, perspective.” Laurie Helgoe

"Reading is a discount ticket to everywhere."
Mary Schmich

"Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are."
Mason Cooley

"It is not true we have only one life to live…if we can read, we can live as many lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish."
S.I. Hayakawa

                READING IS...

    1. Dear girls, I'm glad you had fun! Go on reading...and travelling.

  2. Even through a book you can travel.
This is what happened to me reading "Days of Blood and Starlight" by Laini Taylor (as it was for the previous book "Daughter of Smoke and Bone").The journey of my mind begins with the first book,in Prague, continuing to Marrakesh,in a castle in the middle of the desert. With its characters the book took me into a different world from reality. There is a war between angels and devils with two lovers who are the cause of the war...A difficult history, but the writer makes it clear to the reader trough a simple language and she can instill the rigth dose of emotions.

    1. Very good Vincenza!
I'm happy that you are able to look at a book as an opportunity to travel (I like your expression "journey of my mind"), learn and feel emotions.
I wish you to travel to thousands of other "different worlds" as you say!

  3. Thanks prof!
I hope to always be able to convey to others my emotions and my "travel"!

  4. Reading you travel!
    Title: "The Host"
    Author: Stephenie Meyer
Plot: Our land, in the future not very far, is dominated by some beings called Loses that get into the bodies of the people and guide their feeling, emotions and memories. The resistance of human beings is finishing: among them there is the rebel Melanie Stryder, which is captured by a soul named Wanderer. But Melanie loves deeply Jared and his brother Jamie and her consciousness remains vigilant. Very touched by this feeling, the alien tries to all with Melanie in an attempt to save the human race.
Comment: This book made me travel a lot with the imagination especially so far as Wanderer tells us about her experience of life on eight different planet: the World of Spiders, Flowers, Algae, Fire, Bears, on the Origin, Dolphins and Singing. It's great when she says that the spiders had three brains on for each segment, which were intelligent and she says that the surface of their planet was cold and grey. She also said that they had four long legs for each segment and twelve tols on each foot with six joints. So, to me it was a wonderful book!
